This short film starts off as what appears to be a documentary of the Coney Island Mermaid Parade. One of the mermaid cosplayers lures a man into the water near the parade. The man discovers to his horror that she is not a human cosplayer. (6 minutes)

A curious mermaid explores the shore and quietly observes the humans there. When she gets stuck, a kind ferry worker frees her, and he tells her about some of his life experiences. A mermaid is caught in a net, much to the astonishment of the fishing crew. The greedy fishermen sell the mermaid to a rich buyer. A young member of the fishing crew takes pity on the mermaid. Can he return her to sea? (15 minutes)
